The 411 on Natural Soap

Natural soap is a tantalizing treat for both your senses and skin. Natural soap is made via two methods: the cold process technique or the hot process technique. The primary difference between these two techniques is the temperature needed for saponification. Soap saponification involves combining natural oils and or fats with sodium hydroxide lye.

The soap that we sell is made using the cold process technique. Historically, this technique is one of the oldest forms of soapmaking. Cold process soap takes longer to cure than soap made using the hot process. However, the quality of the finished product is well worth the wait. Not only does the cold process safeguard the benefits of the natural oils, but it also yields a smoother soap.

Natural soaps have a multitude of benefits. One benefit is that natural soap is gentler on the skin as it does not contain harsh chemicals. Natural soap is also very nourishing as it contains various oils and butters such as shea butter, coconut oil, or almond oil in isolation or combined. The addition of essential oils and/or herbs further enhances the benefits of using natural soaps. Furthermore, an array of natural exfoliants such as oatmeal, patchouli, herbal leaves, or coffee grounds provide a natural way to alleviate dead skin. (However, it is important that you review which essential oils or herbs are included to prevent skin irritation from allergies.)
